Laurent-Désiré Kabila
Laurent-Désiré Kabila was a Congolese politician and military leader who became the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) in 1997. He played a significant role in the First Congo War, which led to the overthrow of long-time dictator Mobutu Sese Seko. Kabila's rise to power was supported by various regional allies, including Rwanda and Uganda.
As president, Kabila faced numerous challenges, including ongoing conflict and economic instability.
