Laryngoscopy
Laryngoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the larynx, or voice box, located in the throat. During this procedure, a doctor uses a thin, flexible tube called a laryngoscope, which is equipped with a light and camera, to visualize the larynx. This helps in diagnosing conditions such as infections, tumors, or vocal cord issues.
There are two main types of laryngoscopy: indirect laryngoscopy, which uses mirrors to view the larynx, and direct laryngoscopy, which allows for a more detailed examination under anesthesia. This procedure is essential for evaluating voice problems and planning appropriate treatments.
