Larval Stages
Larval stages are the early developmental phases of certain animals, particularly in species that undergo metamorphosis, such as frogs, butterflies, and beetles. During this stage, the organism often looks very different from its adult form and typically has a distinct body structure, feeding habits, and habitat. The larva usually focuses on growth and feeding to accumulate energy for the next stage of development.
As the larva matures, it eventually undergoes a transformation process called metamorphosis. This process allows the larva to develop into its adult form, which may involve significant changes in anatomy and behavior. For example, a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly, showcasing the dramatic changes that can occur during the larval stages.
