Lao lunar calendar
The Lao lunar calendar is a traditional calendar used in Laos that is based on the phases of the moon. It consists of 12 months, each lasting either 29 or 30 days, resulting in a year that is about 354 days long. This calendar is primarily used to determine important cultural and religious events, such as Buddhist festivals and agricultural activities.
In addition to the lunar months, the Lao lunar calendar also includes a leap month every few years to align it with the solar year. This adjustment helps maintain the seasonal cycle, ensuring that festivals and farming practices occur at the appropriate times throughout the year.
