Languages of Myanmar
Myanmar is a linguistically diverse country, home to over 100 languages. The official language is Burmese, which is spoken by the majority of the population. Other significant languages include Shan, Karen, and Kachin, each associated with different ethnic groups within the country.
Many of these languages belong to different language families, such as Sino-Tibetan for Burmese and Tai-Kadai for Shan. The rich tapestry of languages reflects Myanmar's cultural diversity, with various dialects and scripts used across regions, contributing to the nation's unique identity.
