Languages of Kenya
Kenya is a multilingual country with over 60 languages spoken. The two official languages are English and Swahili, which are used in government, education, and media. Swahili serves as a lingua franca, facilitating communication among diverse ethnic groups.
In addition to the official languages, many indigenous languages are spoken, including Luo, Kikuyu, and Kalenjin. These languages reflect the rich cultural heritage of the various communities in Kenya. Efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote these languages, as they are vital to the identity and traditions of the Kenyan people.
