Languages of California
California is a linguistically diverse state, home to over 200 languages. The most widely spoken language is English, followed by Spanish, which reflects the state's historical ties to Mexico. Other significant languages include Chinese, Tagalog, and Vietnamese, representing the large immigrant communities in the region.
In addition to these languages, California is also home to many indigenous languages, such as Yurok and Ohlone. Efforts are being made to preserve and revitalize these languages, as they are an essential part of the cultural heritage of the state's Native American tribes.
