Land-Grant Institutions
Land-Grant Institutions are colleges and universities in the United States that were established under the Morrill Acts of 1862 and 1890. These acts provided federal land to states to fund the creation of educational institutions focused on agriculture, science, and engineering. The goal was to promote higher education and make it accessible to a broader population.
Today, there are over 100 Land-Grant Institutions, including well-known schools like Texas A&M University and University of California, Davis. They play a vital role in research, extension services, and community outreach, helping to advance knowledge and improve the quality of life in their regions.
