Lake Torrens
Lake Torrens is a large, shallow salt lake located in the northern part of South Australia. It covers an area of approximately 5,700 square kilometers and is known for its striking white salt crust, which forms during dry periods. The lake is situated between the Flinders Ranges and the Gawler Ranges, making it a notable geographical feature in the region.
The lake is usually dry, but it can fill with water during heavy rainfall, creating a temporary wetland that attracts various bird species. Lake Torrens is also significant for its unique ecosystem and is part of the Lake Torrens National Park, which protects the surrounding environment and wildlife.
