Lake Sarez
Lake Sarez is a large, natural lake located in the Pamirs mountain range of Tajikistan. It was formed in 1911 due to a massive landslide that blocked the Murghab River, creating a dam. The lake is approximately 75 kilometers long and reaches depths of over 500 meters, making it one of the deepest lakes in the world.
The lake is fed by glacial meltwater and is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. It plays a crucial role in the local ecosystem and is a source of water for nearby communities. However, the dam created by the landslide poses a risk of flooding, making monitoring and safety measures essential.
