Lake Llanquihue
Lake Llanquihue is the largest lake in southern Chile, covering an area of approximately 860 square kilometers. It is situated in the Los Lagos Region and is known for its stunning views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Osorno Volcano. The lake is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and hiking.
The lake was formed by glacial activity during the last ice age and is fed by several rivers, including the Rio Maullín. Its waters are primarily fed by melting snow from the nearby mountains. The towns of Puerto Varas and Frutillar are located along its shores, attracting tourists with their picturesque landscapes and cultural events.
