Lake Leitisvatn
Lake Leitisvatn is the largest lake in the Faroe Islands, located on the island of Vágar. It spans approximately 3.4 square kilometers and is known for its stunning scenery, surrounded by steep mountains and lush landscapes. The lake is situated at an elevation of about 68 meters above sea level, making it unique among the islands.
One of the lake's most remarkable features is its optical illusion, as it appears to be at sea level when viewed from certain angles. Lake Leitisvatn is also connected to the ocean through a narrow strait, which adds to its beauty and ecological significance.
