Lake Korgalzhyn
Lake Korgalzhyn is a large saline lake located in central Kazakhstan, within the Korgalzhyn State Nature Reserve. It covers an area of approximately 250 square kilometers and is known for its unique ecosystem, which supports various bird species, including flamingos and pelicans. The lake's salinity levels fluctuate, creating a dynamic habitat for wildlife.
The surrounding region is characterized by steppe landscapes and is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Lake Korgalzhyn plays a crucial role in local biodiversity and serves as an important stopover for migratory birds along the Via Pontica route.
