Lake Issyk-Kul
Lake Issyk-Kul is a large, saline lake located in the eastern part of Kyrgyzstan. It is the second-largest alpine lake in the world, covering an area of about 6,236 square kilometers. The lake is situated at an elevation of 1,607 meters above sea level and is surrounded by the majestic Tian Shan mountains, making it a popular destination for tourists and nature enthusiasts.
Despite being surrounded by mountains, Lake Issyk-Kul never freezes due to its high salinity and geothermal activity. The lake is rich in biodiversity, home to various fish species, including the endemic Issyk-Kul trout. It also plays a significant role in the local economy, supporting fishing, tourism, and agriculture in the region.
