Lake Hillier
Lake Hillier is a unique saline lake located on Middle Island, the largest of the Recherche Archipelago in Western Australia. It is famous for its striking pink color, which is attributed to the presence of certain algae and bacteria that thrive in its salty waters. The lake is approximately 600 meters long and is surrounded by a rim of green vegetation and white sand.
The pink hue of Lake Hillier remains consistent throughout the year, making it a popular subject for aerial photography. Visitors can access the lake by boat or plane, but swimming is not recommended due to its high salinity. The lake is part of the Booderee National Park, which is known for its diverse ecosystems and wildlife.
