Lake Biwa Canal
The Lake Biwa Canal is a historic waterway located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. Completed in 1890, it connects Lake Biwa, the largest freshwater lake in Japan, to the city of Kyoto. The canal was originally built to supply water for irrigation and to facilitate transportation.
Stretching approximately 23 kilometers, the canal features scenic views and is lined with cherry blossom trees, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
