La Perouse Strait
La Perouse Strait is a narrow body of water located between Russia and Japan. It connects the Sea of Japan to the Sea of Okhotsk and is approximately 43 kilometers (27 miles) wide at its narrowest point. The strait is named after the French explorer Jean-François de La Pérouse, who navigated the area in the late 18th century.
