L86 LSW
The L86 LSW, or Light Support Weapon, is a British light machine gun designed for infantry use. It was developed in the 1980s to provide soldiers with a lightweight, versatile weapon that could deliver sustained fire. The L86 is chambered for the 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge and features a gas-operated, rotating bolt mechanism, allowing for both automatic and semi-automatic firing modes.
Weighing around 4.5 kg (10 lbs), the L86 LSW is equipped with a bipod for stability during firing. It is often used in conjunction with the L85A2 rifle, which is the standard issue rifle for the British Army. The L86 has been employed in various military operations, providing effective support to infantry units.
