Kuwait Invasion
The Kuwait Invasion occurred on August 2, 1990, when Iraq, led by President Saddam Hussein, invaded its neighbor, Kuwait. The invasion was motivated by Iraq's desire to control Kuwait's oil reserves and to address economic issues following the Iran-Iraq War.
The international community quickly condemned the invasion, leading to the formation of a coalition led by the United States. This coalition launched Operation Desert Storm in January 1991, successfully liberating Kuwait by February 1991. The invasion had significant geopolitical consequences and heightened tensions in the Middle East.
