Kurdish Regional Government
The Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) is an autonomous region in northern Iraq. Established in the 1990s, it governs the predominantly Kurdish areas and has its own parliament and president. The KRG operates independently in various sectors, including education, health, and security, while still being part of the Iraqi state.
The KRG is recognized for its efforts in promoting Kurdish culture and language. It has its own military forces, known as the Peshmerga, which play a significant role in regional security. The government also engages in oil production and trade, contributing to its economic development.
