Kunti is a significant character in the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. She is the daughter of King Shurasena and the mother of the five Pandavas: Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva. Kunti is known for her strength, wisdom, and devotion, as well as her ability to invoke gods to bear children.
Kunti's early life was marked by challenges, including her marriage to Pandu, who was cursed to die if he engaged in intimacy. To ensure the continuation of his lineage, Kunti used a boon given to her by the sage Durvasa to summon divine beings, leading to the birth of her sons.
