Krishna Janmashtami
Krishna Janmashtami is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. It usually falls in August or September, on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada. Devotees observe fasting, sing devotional songs, and participate in various cultural activities to honor Krishna's life and teachings.
The festival is marked by night-long vigils, as Krishna is believed to have been born at midnight. Many people decorate their homes and temples with flowers and lights, and some reenact scenes from Krishna's childhood, including his playful antics and divine miracles.
