Kress Foundation
The Kress Foundation, officially known as the Samuel H. Kress Foundation, is a private philanthropic organization established in 1924. It was founded by Samuel H. Kress, a successful businessman and art collector, with the mission to support the arts, particularly in the fields of art education and museum development. The foundation provides grants to various institutions and projects that promote the appreciation and understanding of art.
In addition to funding, the Kress Foundation is known for its involvement in the Kress Program in Art History, which supports graduate education in art history. The foundation also focuses on preserving and enhancing the collections of American art museums and promoting access to art for the public.
