Koto
The Koto is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument that has been played for centuries. It typically features 13 strings stretched over a long, wooden body and is played by plucking the strings with the fingers or using plectrums. The instrument is known for its unique, resonant sound and is often used in classical Japanese music, as well as in contemporary compositions.
Originating in China, the Koto was introduced to Japan around the 7th century and has since become an integral part of Japanese culture. It is often associated with other traditional instruments, such as the Shamisen and Shakuhachi, and is commonly featured in performances at cultural events and festivals.
