Kore (Maiden)
Kore, also known as Persephone, is a figure from ancient Greek mythology. She is often referred to as the "Maiden" and is the daughter of Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. Kore represents springtime and the renewal of life, symbolizing the cycle of growth and fertility.
In the myth, Kore is abducted by Hades, the god of the underworld, which leads to her mother’s grief and the changing of the seasons. This story explains the seasonal cycle, as Demeter's sorrow during Kore's absence results in winter, while her joy upon Kore's return brings about spring and summer.
