Konstantin Päts
Konstantin Päts was an Estonian politician and statesman, born on February 23, 1874. He played a significant role in Estonia's struggle for independence from Russia after World War I. Päts served as the first President of Estonia from 1938 until 1940, promoting national unity and development during his leadership.
In 1934, Päts established an authoritarian regime, suspending the constitution and political parties to maintain stability. His government faced challenges from Soviet and Nazi Germany influences. After the Soviet occupation in 1940, Päts was arrested and deported, ultimately dying in exile in 1956.
