Kono people
The Kono people are an ethnic group primarily located in the eastern region of Sierra Leone. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes traditional music, dance, and festivals that celebrate their history and community values. The Kono language, a member of the Mande language family, is spoken by the majority of the population.
Historically, the Kono people have been involved in diamond mining, which has significantly impacted their economy and social structure. Despite facing challenges such as civil conflict and economic instability, the Kono community continues to maintain its cultural identity and traditions.
