Komnenos dynasty
The Komnenos dynasty was a ruling family of the Byzantine Empire that reigned from the 11th to the 12th centuries. Founded by Alexios I Komnenos, the dynasty is known for its efforts to restore the empire's power and stability during a time of crisis, including military campaigns against the Seljuk Turks and the Crusaders.
Under the Komnenos, the Byzantine Empire experienced a cultural and economic revival, often referred to as the Komnenian restoration. Notable emperors included John II Komnenos and Manuel I Komnenos, who expanded the empire's territories and strengthened its military and administrative structures.
