Komnenos Dynasty
The Komnenos Dynasty was a ruling family of the Byzantine Empire that reigned from 1081 to 1185. Founded by Alexios I Komnenos, the dynasty is known for its efforts to restore the empire's power and stability during a time of crisis, including the First Crusade.
Under the leadership of the Komnenos emperors, the empire experienced military successes and economic recovery. Notable emperors included John II Komnenos and Manuel I Komnenos, who expanded the empire's territories and strengthened its administration. The dynasty ultimately fell due to internal strife and external pressures, leading to the decline of Byzantine authority.
