Komnenian Dynasty
The Komnenian Dynasty was a ruling family of the Byzantine Empire that reigned from 1081 to 1185. Founded by Alexios I Komnenos, the dynasty is known for its efforts to restore the empire's power and territory during a time of crisis, including the challenges posed by the Seljuk Turks and the Crusades.
Under the leadership of the Komnenian emperors, the Byzantine Empire experienced military and economic revitalization. Notable emperors included John II Komnenos and Manuel I Komnenos, who expanded the empire's influence and engaged in diplomatic relations with Western Europe.
