Kisaeng
Kisaeng were female entertainers in Korea during the Joseon Dynasty, known for their skills in music, dance, and conversation. They were trained from a young age in various arts and often served as companions to the elite, providing entertainment at banquets and gatherings.
While some Kisaeng were viewed as courtesans, many were respected for their cultural contributions. They played a significant role in preserving traditional Korean arts and were often educated in poetry and literature, making them important figures in the social and cultural life of their time.
