Kingsley Amis
Kingsley Amis was a British novelist and poet, born on April 16, 1922, in London. He is best known for his satirical works that often explore themes of social class and the complexities of modern life. His most famous novel, Lucky Jim, published in 1954, is a comic portrayal of a disenchanted university lecturer.
Amis was also a prominent critic and essayist, contributing to various literary journals. Throughout his career, he published numerous novels, short stories, and poetry collections, earning accolades such as the Booker Prize in 1991 for his novel The Old Devils. He passed away on October 22, 1995.
