King William Island
King William Island is located in the Canadian Arctic, part of the Nunavut territory. It is surrounded by the Victoria Strait to the south and the Parry Channel to the north. The island covers an area of approximately 13,000 square kilometers and is known for its rugged terrain and tundra landscape.
The island is historically significant as it was the site of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition in the mid-19th century. The expedition aimed to find the Northwest Passage but ended in tragedy, with many crew members perishing. Today, King William Island is a key area for Arctic research and exploration.
