King Tae-jo
King Tae-jo was the founder and first king of the Joseon Dynasty in Korea, reigning from 1392 to 1398. He was born as Yi Seong-gye and played a crucial role in overthrowing the Goryeo Dynasty. His leadership marked the beginning of a new era in Korean history, emphasizing Confucian values and centralized governance.
During his reign, King Tae-jo implemented various reforms to strengthen the state and improve agricultural productivity. He established a new capital in Hanyang, now known as Seoul, and promoted the use of the Korean script, Hangul, to enhance literacy among the populace.
