King Sancho VII
King Sancho VII, also known as Sancho the Strong, was the King of Navarre from 1194 to 1234. He is best known for his military prowess, particularly during the Reconquista, a series of campaigns to reclaim the Iberian Peninsula from Muslim rule. Sancho played a significant role in the Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa in 1212, which was a turning point in the struggle against the Moors.
Sancho VII was a member of the House of Jiménez and succeeded his father, Sancho VI. His reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the kingdom of Navarre and maintain its independence amid the growing power of neighboring kingdoms, such as Castile and Aragon.
