King Acrisius
King Acrisius was a character from Greek mythology, known as the ruler of Argos. He was the son of Abas and the grandson of Lynceus. Acrisius is most famous for his fear of a prophecy that stated he would be killed by his grandson. To prevent this fate, he locked his daughter, Danaë, in a tower, hoping to keep her from having children.
Despite his efforts, Zeus visited Danaë in the form of golden rain, and she gave birth to Perseus. In an attempt to escape the prophecy, Acrisius cast Danaë and Perseus into the sea in a wooden chest. Ultimately, the prophecy came true when Perseus accidentally killed Acrisius during a sporting event.
