Kilopond
A kilopond, also known as a kilopond-force, is a unit of force that is equal to the weight of one kilogram under standard gravity. It is defined as the force exerted by a mass of one kilogram in a gravitational field of 9.81 meters per second squared. The term is derived from the Latin word "pondus," meaning weight.
Kiloponds are not commonly used in modern scientific contexts, as the standard unit of force in the International System of Units (SI) is the newton. One kilopond is approximately equal to 9.81 newtons. This unit is sometimes referenced in discussions about weight and force in relation to gravity and mass.
