Kikuyu Mythology
Kikuyu Mythology is the traditional belief system of the Kikuyu people, the largest ethnic group in Kenya. Central to their mythology is the creator god, Ngai, who resides on Mount Kenya. The Kikuyu believe that Ngai created the first man, Gikuyu, and his wife, Mumbi, from whom the Kikuyu people are descended.
The Kikuyu also have various myths explaining natural phenomena and cultural practices. For instance, they believe that the sacred Mugumo tree is a dwelling place for spirits and plays a significant role in their rituals. These stories reflect the Kikuyu's connection to their land and heritage.
