Kieu
"Kieu" is a famous Vietnamese epic poem written by Nguyen Du in the early 19th century. The full title is "Truyện Kiều," which translates to "The Tale of Kieu." It tells the story of Thuy Kieu, a beautiful young woman who sacrifices her happiness for her family and faces numerous hardships in her quest for love and redemption.
The poem is composed of 3,254 verses in luc bat, a traditional Vietnamese poetic form. "Kieu" explores themes of love, fate, and the struggles of women in a patriarchal society. It is considered a masterpiece of Vietnamese literature and has been translated into many languages.
