Kieft's War
Kieft's War was a conflict that took place from 1643 to 1645 between the Dutch settlers in New Netherland and various Native American tribes, primarily the Lenape. The war was named after Willem Kieft, the director of the colony, who sought to expand Dutch territory and control over trade.
The conflict began after tensions rose due to land disputes and the Dutch's aggressive policies. It resulted in significant violence, including attacks on both sides. Ultimately, the war ended with a peace treaty, but it left lasting impacts on relations between the Dutch and Native Americans in the region.
