Abbas Kiarostami was an influential Iranian filmmaker, born on June 22, 1940, in Tehran. He is best known for his unique storytelling style and innovative use of non-professional actors. His most acclaimed works include Taste of Cherry, which won the Palme d'Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, and The Wind Will Carry Us.
