Ki-o-rahi
Ki-o-rahi is a traditional Māori ball game from New Zealand, played on a circular field. The game combines elements of rugby, netball, and touch football, and is played by two teams of seven players each. The objective is to score points by touching a central target called the pou and hitting the tupu (goalposts) while defending against the opposing team.
The game is rich in cultural significance and often incorporates storytelling and Māori traditions. Players use a round ball called a ki, and the game emphasizes teamwork, strategy, and agility. Ki-o-rahi is not only a sport but also a way to connect with Māori heritage and community.
