Khmer Republic
The Khmer Republic was a government in Cambodia that existed from 1970 to 1975. It was established after a coup led by General Lon Nol, which overthrew the monarchy of King Norodom Sihanouk. The republic was marked by political instability and conflict, as it faced opposition from the communist forces of the Khmer Rouge.
During its short existence, the Khmer Republic struggled with economic challenges and civil unrest. The government received support from the United States during the Vietnam War, but ultimately fell to the Khmer Rouge in 1975, leading to a devastating period of genocide and suffering in Cambodia.
