Khitan script
The Khitan script is an ancient writing system used by the Khitan people, who lived in what is now northern China during the Liao Dynasty (907-1125 AD). This script was developed to write the Khitan language, which is now extinct. The Khitan script consists of two main forms: a large script used for official documents and a smaller script for everyday writing.
The Khitan script is notable for its unique characters, which are not directly related to other writing systems. It has around 1,000 characters, many of which are logographic, meaning they represent words or morphemes. Despite its historical significance, the script remains partially undeciphered, making it a subject of ongoing research in the fields of linguistics and archaeology.
