Kevin Carter
Kevin Carter was a South African photojournalist known for his powerful images that captured the struggles of people in war-torn and impoverished regions. He gained international recognition for his haunting photograph of a starving child being stalked by a vulture during the 1993 famine in Sudan. This image won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography in 1994.
Despite his success, Carter faced significant emotional turmoil and criticism for his work. He struggled with the ethical implications of photographing suffering without intervening. Tragically, he died by suicide in 1994, just months after receiving the Pulitzer Prize, highlighting the profound impact of his experiences on his mental health.
