Kermode bear
The Kermode bear, also known as the spirit bear, is a rare subspecies of the American black bear found primarily in the coastal regions of British Columbia, Canada. About one in ten Kermode bears is born with a unique white or cream-colored coat due to a recessive gene, while the rest have the typical black fur. These bears inhabit temperate rainforests and are known for their strong swimming abilities.
Kermode bears primarily feed on salmon, berries, and other vegetation. They play a crucial role in their ecosystem by helping to disperse seeds and nutrients. Conservation efforts are in place to protect their habitat and ensure the survival of this unique bear species.
