Keowee River
The Keowee River is a scenic waterway located in the northwestern part of South Carolina. It flows approximately 20 miles, starting at the confluence of the Keowee and Little River and eventually merging with the Seneca River to form the Savannah River. The river is known for its clear waters and beautiful surroundings, making it a popular spot for fishing, kayaking, and other recreational activities.
The Keowee River is also significant for its role in the region's hydroelectric power generation. The Keowee-Toxaway Project, managed by the Duke Energy Corporation, includes several dams and reservoirs that help provide electricity to the area. This project has contributed to the local economy while also preserving the natural beauty of the river and its surroundings.
