Ken Arok
Ken Arok was a significant figure in Indonesian history, known for founding the Singhasari kingdom in the late 12th century. He rose from humble beginnings, starting as a commoner before becoming a powerful leader. His reign marked the beginning of a new era in East Java, characterized by military conquests and political consolidation.
Arok is often remembered for his controversial rise to power, which included the assassination of the previous king, Tunggul Ametung. His rule established a legacy that influenced subsequent kingdoms in the region, including the Majapahit empire, which would later dominate much of Southeast Asia.
