Keechie
Keechie is a term that refers to a specific type of bird, commonly known as the Killdeer. This bird is easily recognizable by its distinctive black and white markings and its loud, shrill call. Keechies are often found in open fields, shorelines, and near water sources, where they forage for insects and small invertebrates.
In addition to its role in the ecosystem, the Keechie is known for its unique behavior of feigning injury to distract predators from its nest. This clever tactic helps protect its eggs and young chicks, showcasing the bird's instinctual survival strategies in the wild.
