Keban Reservoir
The Keban Reservoir is a large artificial lake located in eastern Turkey, created by the construction of the Keban Dam on the Euphrates River. It was completed in 1974 and serves multiple purposes, including hydroelectric power generation, irrigation, and flood control. The reservoir has a surface area of approximately 675 square kilometers.
The Keban Dam, which forms the reservoir, is one of the largest dams in Turkey and plays a crucial role in the country's energy production. The reservoir not only supports local agriculture but also contributes to the regional economy by providing recreational opportunities and enhancing biodiversity in the surrounding areas.
